Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, Hugo Boss: Indian model is dominating the runways
20-year-old model Arun Gupta has walked the ramp for Hugo Boss, Kenzo, Acne Studio, Fendi, Neil Barrett and more
Fate has its ways of working and the male role model Arun Gupta is the classic example. 20-year-old Arun ran into the East Village area in New York City one day, and to his surprise, he was approached by a casting director who asked him if he had ever considered modeling. A surprised Arun was handed a business card and invited to come to the agency the next day – and the rest is history.
Arun is half Singaporean, and half Indians has run for Hugo Boss, Kenzo, Acne Studio, Fendi, Neil Barrett’s FW18 shows, as well as Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, Margaret Howell and Sacai’s SS18 shows debuting with an SS18 lookbook for Kent and Curwen.
“Yeah, I was nervous but not extreme, the mood of the shoot was sporty, so we wore blazers, cricket pullovers, and chinos, here I made some of my first friends in the industry and worked with some of fashion’s most creative and innovative talents, including Alister Mackie, Jess Hallett, and Daniel Kearns, “Arun said in an interview.
Before modeling, Arun studied at a university in New York City. “To be honest, I have no idea what I want to do after that: I focus on living in the present and creating happy memories if I did not do modeling I’d probably be in college,” he said.
Well, it’s a proud moment to see the young Arun conquer India on the fashion map and we love how designers adopt models of different ethnicity and color on the catwalk. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
